How Leaf Guide makes money

Leaf Guide Taiwan is editorially independent. To keep the guide free and growing we may earn money in a few clearly-labelled ways — and none of them affect what we recommend. Here’s exactly how it works.

What we never do

Our firm rules

No paid rankings

We never sell rankings or directory position. No venue can pay to rank higher, appear first, or be featured.

No paid awards

Leaf Awards are editorial. They cannot be bought, sponsored, or influenced by any commercial relationship.

No paid endorsements

We don't publish fake reviews, fabricated testimonials, or endorsements in exchange for payment.

Source-backed facts

Venue facts stay source-backed. A commercial relationship never lets a venue change how it's described.

Ways we may make money

Paid products

We may sell our own paid products — for example a printable Taiwan Tea Trip Pack. These are optional extras. The free Starter Guide stays free to read and download, and buying a product never changes any venue’s ranking or editorial placement.

Referral & affiliate links

Some outbound links may be referral or affiliate links, where we could earn a commission or fee if you buy through them at no extra cost to you. We disclose these wherever they appear, and they never influence our ranking, Leaf Awards, or which venues we cover.

Venue services

We may offer optional services to venues — for example help correcting their listing or preparing owner-supplied photos. Any venue service is clearly separated from editorial. Buying a service gives a venue no better ranking, no award, and no editorial advantage. If you run a venue, see our venue owners page.

What stays independent

Rankings, Leaf Awards, and editorial selection are not for sale. We don’t invent partners we don’t have, and we don’t claim endorsements we didn’t earn. If we ever can’t verify a venue fact, we say so rather than guess.
